What’s in and around Silver Terrace?Silver Terrace is a predominantly residential neighborhood. Its proximity to major thoroughfares and corridors, however, make the following nearby attractions a breeze to go to:
- Silver Terrace Playground – Open early in the morning and until late in the evening, Silver Terrace’s community playground features several sports facilities, including an artificial and lighted turf field, a tennis court, and basketball courts. The children’s play area is equipped with various kid-friendly apparatus and a clubhouse.
- McLaren Park – Located west of Silver Terrace, sprawling McLaren Park encompasses 312 acres of land, making it one of the largest parks in San Francisco. Within the park are several attractions, such as the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater, Yosemite Marsh, Philosopher’s Way, and the Gleneagles Golf Course. Several hiking trails snake around the park, some of which can take visitors to McLaren Park’s highest points where stunning views of the Bay area can be enjoyed.
- Candlestick Point State Recreation Area – Southeast from Silver Terrace is the Candlestick Point State Recreation Area. Candlestick Point is a popular gathering place and spot for several recreational activities, including windsurfing, bird watching, hiking, and fishing, depending on the season. Winter is favored by bird watchers to catch glimpses of shorebirds and waterfowl. The fishing pier also yields different types of seasonal fish, such as striped bass, halibut, and sturgeon.
